3 minute speaker:  Gary Brown spoke about being a passionate Taupo fisherman. He's had a batch there for 45 years. He's a trustee for Advocates for The Tongariro River specifically for fishing and conservation.
between 2010-2012 the fishery decided by 30% which had a major bearing on the Taupo economy. A student David Hamilton, from Waikato University was commissioned to find out what caused this downturn, this was over a 3-4 year period towards his PHD. The cost for this was $108,000 raised through Taupo District Council, Doc and Trusts.
The findings were that the El Nino weather pattern contributed to disrupting the natural cycles of nutrient levels in the lake. This has led to an increase in catch limit 6/person/day and a reduction of the size limit to try and restore the lake to healthy stock levels.

Guest Speaker: Nicholas Setteducato.

Nicholas comes from New Jersey, USA where he was raised and educated. He studied and graduated in Visual Art at New York University.

He worked for 6 years as a digital preservation photographer for the Gilder- Lehrman Collection in New York. Digitising artefacts for use in publications, websites and collection appraisal process.

A 6 month working holiday to New Zealand led him to a 10 year job with Peter Jackson's Wingnut Films production as an archival photographer for all the companies film collections.
Interesting work involved Peter Jackson's WW1 aircraft Heritage Centre collection in Blenheim's doing digitisation of artefacts in 2011 for the centenary of WW1
Also went to Gallipoli with Peter Jackson for part of the Gallipoli Film production and colourisation of WW1 photos to be used in the film.

Following that he spent 4 years at Lucy's Place productions as the owner doing video animation, photography and short film productions.

His current job is The New Digital Systems curator for Puke Ariki.

This involves digital strategy development, digitisation projects, exhibition enhancements, application of new technologies to the museum's core functions and collection care.

Nicholas is exploring ways of connecting museum staff, doing virtual museum tours with augmented reality and using Virtual Reality in exhibitions.

He is currently looking at using the technologies for museum education in schools.
