Greetings in Rotary
A very good night at the Auto Lodge. We welcomed visiting Presidents, members and partners and Grace, one of our RYPEN recipients and her father Frank.
We had an interesting talk from Grace a well-spoken and confident young woman. Grace has been appointed as Head Girl for 2021 at NPGHS, and we wish her all the best for a successful year.
A great selection of cakes, although not many along our theme of Disaster/Danger. An good amount was raised from the raffle and the auction for our centennial project “Give Every Child A Future”. If you want to know more about this project go to our club website for more information.
Our first meeting for 2021 will be on 25th January at the Auto Lodge. This will be followed by a Board meeting.

Address by Anagrace Po Ching our RYPEN Candidate from NPGHS
Anagrace thanked the club for the opportunity to attend RYPEN in October, which she found very stimulating, providing an opportunity to meet and create friendships with fellow attendees from around District 9940. In fact she's still in contact with the group via Instagram.
She found that the course emphasised the importance of leadership, building people up, walking alongside and enabling the realisation of individual potential and the opportunities to inspire a team.
Team activities emphasised the importance of involving all team members to achieve challenges presented.
A dinner on Saturday night had all participants dressing in Op Shop odd clothing. The purpose was to demonstrate that its not the exterior appearance but what's inside a person and their personality thats important.
A talent show and Irish dancing were other activities she participated in.
The course stressed that opportunities present challenges and builds character.
She found that the course inspired her to determine objectives she had at school afterwards.
One of these was to apply to be Head Girl.
She described the process she had to go through, very much like a job interview in parts, quite daunting:
A 2 minute address to the whole school.
This enabled her to make the first cut.
The Senior Leadership of the school chooses a short list.
An interview with the new Principal
A breakfast hosted by senior staff with sealed envelopes opened at the end to reveal 3 positions for students.
She was selected as the Head Girl, not bad for only being in the school 2 years.
Grace's positive personality shone through in her brief address. She showed maturity beyond her years and had even thought about what she could do in her leadership role in the year ahead to help disadvantaged students clearly suffering(coming to school without a lunch) as a result of the pandemic.
Clearly there were opportunities for her to work with our club too and maybe get involved in the establishment of an Interact Club in conjunction with our aim to establish a club at NPBHS.
Cake Auction
Capably conducted by Des Friedrich as Auctioneer who extorted approximately $300 for : Give Every Child a Future.
Owen McCluggage once again was judged as having made the best cake and Stephen Bovett's was runner up (by Grace)
Some interesting stories about how members had made their cakes. David Brownson's
