Message from President Sally

Greetings in Rotary

A great evening last Monday when members were able to chat and mingle as we had no speaker and although a Forum night it was more social.

I challenged members to explain a quote I had provided each person with as to how this impacted on their lives or incorporate it into a story.  This was well received by all members even though some were initially hesitant.

Don’t forget it is really important to let Wally know numbers attending for the Charter of the Interact Club on 14th June.  District Governor Gillian will be joining us for the night so we expect a good turn out from members and partners.  This is an opt in, not an opt out.  So if you are attending please let Wally know.
Yours in Rotary

President Sally

Meeting:

President Sally handed out cards that had challenging statements and members were asked to relate these statements to their own experiences or their interpretation of the statements.
We had some interesting interpretations.

 3 Minute Talk: Des Friedrich

Des has recently gone back to Alice Springs to help run the annual Carnival at the Alice Springs Racing Club.
While there he attended the 60th Anniversary of the Alice Springs Rotary Club. He was formally a member of the Mbantua Rotary Club.

An invitation has been extended to our club to visit Alice Springs on a Friendship Exchange at the time Rotary Runs The Henley on Todd Annual Boat Race on the 2nd weekend in August 2022.
Of course the Henley has no water at that time of the year  (indeed you are deemed a local if you see water in the Henley at least 3 times in your life) so it makes for an interesting event.

It was also suggested that we could also possibly have some form of student exchange between the two clubs.

Social Nights:

Suggestion by Stephen Bovett that when we can't get hosts for the night we go to other venues such as Holden Museum, Businesses, etc and incorporate a meal with it.
