Members and Guests enjoyed a very festive evening on 9 December, complete with Christmas Fare, crackers, entertainment - and some very bad Christmas themed jokes.
Musical interludes were provided by Mason Bailey, an incredibly talented saxophonist. Hard to believe he is only 16 years old!
President Murray welcomed our Guests who included Kathryn Gillespie ( our first Social Member),Trish Betts, Helen and Eldon Peters,David and Margaret Brown ( our regular guests from England- hopefully soon to join us more formally)and Noel and Rosemary Chilcott from Waitara Rotary Club.
He held a seasonal Fines Session which managed to incorporate some typical Christmas jokes, possibly borrowed from the crackers…
We all enjoyed Mason’s playing, both in the background and in a dedicated spot in an interlude during the dinner. Again, so hard to believe he is so young and at such an early age stage of his musical career.
Gaylene conveyed our thanks and appreciation.
President Murray wound up the Meeting with a brief overview of where we are with our Centenary Project and reminded us of how important the Golf Tournament will be in terms of fundraising for it. We have a meeting scheduled with the Taranaki Foundation who will be supporting us in a variety of ways.
He thanked John Pitman on behalf of the Club for all his work as Treasurer and wished him well on our behalf.
He reminded us that the Social Membership category is now live and now we have go out and find them!
Before she gave the Parting Thought, Sally reported she had delivered the Christmas Puddings to the Flats and they were much appreciated.

A reminder about our next meetings
There will be a pot luck social meeting held at Jan Dempsey’s on 20 January. The first business meeting will be on 27 January with the next meeting being on 10 February.
