Rotary Club of Ngāmotu Annual Russell Moore Memorial Golf Tournament 12th November, 2021
The Tournament was successfully run on Friday 12th November 2021.
Despite some misgivings about weather predictions and COVID 19 cases in Stratford confirmed the day before the tournament was able to be held. We were very fortunate that the rain held off until during the prizegiving.
7 Celebrity guests (Conrad Smith, Carl Hayman, Grant Moorhead, Jamie Reid, Doc Van Praag, Bryan Vickery and Jack Van Prenh (the under 16 current Waikato champion), played they certainly provided a special atmosphere for the tournament.
Prizes were given to most of the 21 teams that competed in the tournament, thanks largely in part to Ted Normanton from Alzheimers Taranaki who single handedly managed to obtain approximately $1500 worth of goods and vouchers from New Plymouth businesses.
The winning team was Dean Clement's representing the Alzheimers Club. They were presented with the Russell Moore Memorial Trophy.
A very successful auction was held with Colin Morrison as our Auctioneer raising approximately $3100
Gross income for the tournament was approximately : $13500
The Cleaver family approached the Rotary Club of Ngāmotu Charitable Trust seeking assistance with the fit out of some equipment in the family van.
This was to help provide mum (Abby) with the ability to cope with the particular needs of their son Vann.
Vann is autistic and is also deaf and has other medical problems for the family to cope with.
The Trust considered their situation, and thought that this was a deserving case, justifying the $3000 grant, whereby the family were already doing a fantastic job in meetings Vann’s special needs.
The family had exhausted all other avenues in seeking assistance financially, and the Trust is flexible enough to judge each application on its own merits and only too willing to help out.
Abby is very appreciative of the support that the Charitable Trust has been able to provide.
A highlight for the team was greeting the chief of Sagadugu. The team got excited about buying goats and food for children in the villages where I support eight churches. It was good to see the pastors of most of the eight churches, and I had to explain that we were just passing through on our way to Bolgatanga.
